From 684 to 13,680: What It Would Take to Guarantee Faith-Based Primary School Access in Ireland

Yesterday I asked you how many schools you thought we’d need if everyone had access to a primary school of their faith (with the caveat that there would need to be at least 2,000 members of their faith in the country.)

If we were to guarantee every single child could access ONE type of school within 30 minutes of their house, this would be 684 schools, which isn’t a lot.

If we have Catholic, Protestant, Muslim and Multidenominational schools, that rises to 2,736 schools around the country.

We have 20 beliefs (including no religion) with more than 2,000 members in Ireland so to fulfil our obligation, we would need 13,680 primary schools. That’s over 10,000 more than we already have.
